Weekly Twitter Wine Mini-Reviews Round-up for 2009-06-13
  • 07 Trefethen Oak Knoll Chardonnay (Napa): Yeah it's oaky, but there's good fruit & structure. Has balanced returned to the land of T Chard? #
  • 07 The Crusher Wilson vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Clarksburg): Jammy & spicy enough to be Syrah, cheap enough that you might not care. #
  • 08 Carmen Gewurztraminer (Curico Valley): All the right mojo is there (lychee, rose petal) but it's kinda flabby. Time for the treadmill… #
  • 05 Franciscan Magnificat (Napa Valley): If you like red, jammy CA Cab, then you're not likely to do much better. Bring the checkbook. #
  • 08 The Crusher Petite Sirah (Clarksburg): Like spicy cigar smoke. But those astringent tannins will never soften, so bring some flank steak. #

Wine notes are finished. See if you can do 140 characters on something other than a wine description–a tidbit on the winery, winemaker, even wine without rating it. TOM

Tom – they're not finished for me.

These started as (sort of) tasting notes for my wine samplings, and they're published here in case they're also useful to others. I'm not rating these wines (you will never see a score, or stars, etc.), but giving my overall opinions on them.

That's exactly why I like weekly twitters. All I and 90% of all wine drinkers want to know, is it good or is it bad?
Thanks Joe, keep them weekly twitters coming.

Does anyone know where I can purchase inexpensive wine online?

Fine Wine Discounters (http://www.finewinediscounters.com). I have purchased a good amout of wine from them. Their prices are very reasonable and provide excellent customer service!!

    Dear Rob & Bill,

Since it appears from you IP addresses that you live or work in the same building… wouldn't it have just been easier for Robert to have asked Bill in person instead of in the comments on my blog?

    Just sayin'…

Q: Hey, does anyone know where I can get some help on the DOs and DON'Ts of social media on-line?

A: How about right on the *same* blog where I'm leaving my poorly constructed & ill-conceived attempt at publicity masquerading as a comment? http://1winedude.com/index.php/2009/06/05/cave-dr

        :-)

yes! The self question and answer. I've tried many times with the ladies, but they fail to see the humor in it…great link to the slideshow.

"Hey babe – question for ya: am I the most clever and dashing guy you've ever met? A: Of *course* I am!" :)

Well isn't that bizarre, huh, Joe? How many guidelines in social media can you break (and most publicly, I might add) in the fewest words.
    1. inauthentic
    2. self serving
    3. not giving back or offering value (offer a discount man!)
    4. broken link
    5. irrelevant comment on the blog
    6. B.S. oh, wait, I said inauthentic…
    7. (dis) respect

Maybe they want to advertise on your blog…that might be more appropriate.
Watch, listen, learn, fellas. Not much gets past Joe…or the rest of the wine bloggers.

      You couldn't resist :-).

      Good advice, by the way!
