Wine Reviews: Weekly Mini Round-Up for May 10, 2021

I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
 
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!

• NV Corvezzo Organic & Vegan Prosecco Extra Dry (Veneto): A piquant, lively, pure & overachieving little number, indeed. $13 B+
• 2016 Domaine Dirler-Cade Riesling Belzbrunnen (Alsace): Pure power, ripe pear, and rippin’ citrus peel FTW! $27 B+
• 2019 Siduri Chardonnay (Willamette Valley): A bit on the richer side for WV, but wows with complexity and textural interest. $30 B+
• 2017 Owen Roe Yakima Valley Red (Yakima Valley): Silky, sultry, spicy, and seductively decadent. $28 B+
• 2018 Dry Creek Vineyard Meritage (Sonoma County): Everything here is pleasantly dark – from the fruits, to the spices, to the smoke, to the toast. $35 A-
• 2017 Mathis Sonoma Valley Grenache (Sonoma Valley): Pushing it in almost every respect, but in a playful, delicious way. $33 B+
• 2018 Dutton-Goldfield ‘Deviate’ Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast): So rich it’s almost unrecognizable as a Coastal red… so good, you won’t care. $72 A
• 2018 Newton Vineyard Unfiltered Chardonnay (Napa Valley): Buttery peachiness and lemony zestiness in a texturally fascinating mixture. $55 A-
• 2017 Blackbird Vineyards Arise (Napa Valley): A herald’s call to those who cannot get enough of the Napa Valley in their Napa Valley. $40 A-
• 2019 Blackbird Vineyards Dissonance (Napa Valley): Actually, the topical fruit action and the sultry sophistication are pretty much singing along in harmony here… $20 B+
