Welcome to the Weekly Wine Quiz!

Based on feedback from ever-so-vocal-and-intelligent peeps like you, I do not supply the quiz answer directly in the post – you will need to tune back in later in the comments section for the answer. Blah, blah, blah – you know all this already…

Now, this week I’m off to Australia for a near two-week jaunt with Wines Of Australia, during which I will be traveling with 19 sommeliers (god help them!) across most of that fine country’s wine regions. So, please be patient, as it could be a while (even a few days) before I get the answer in the comments (if you’re upset, I’ll refund the $0.00 subscription fee, okay?). Hopefully the frequency of the quizzes won’t be interrupted while I’m traveling, but that will depend on how well the Aussie’s have sorted out Internet connectivity in their not-quite-remote-but-definitely-not-city-slicking areas. Anyway…

Scuppers The Wine?

Which U.S. Founding Father once told Washington Judge William Johnson that wines from the Scuppernong grape “would be distinguished on the best tables of Europe for its fine aroma, and chrystalline transparence?”

  • A. Benjamin Franklin
  • B. Thomas Jefferson
  • C. John Adams
  • D. George Washington

Cheers – and god luck!

No idea, but he was dead wrong. I've tasted Scuppernong & Muscadine (sold them in a previous life) and they horrid wines.

Yeah, I really have no idea, but I will go with B-Jefferson. I do know he was into his wines, but so was Franklin (along with a few other things).

      Thanks, Joel!
