CNBC.com’s Wines For the Holidays

CNBC.com has updated their annual expert recommendations on wines for the holidays – and this year, there are a few interesting parties among the panel of wine smarties contributing their wine picks for your 2009 fourth quarter celebratory dining table.

Like me, for instance.

I know what you’re thinking.  How the hell did YOU get on the same list as Jancis Robinson?!??

I had the same reaction, my friends!

I’m in great, great company on this one, with quite a few fellow bloggers gracing the CNBC.com lineup, most of whom I’m happy and proud to call friends of the Dude:

There are some great wine picks offered up in the list, so head on over to CNBC.com and check it out before you do your holiday dinner shopping this year.

Cheers!

Hey Joe- I'm happy to see that CNBC is recognizing wine bloggers and including them as experts to make this year's holiday recommendations. I'm curious, did CNBC approach you for your recommendations or did you submit them?

Thanks! Great question – that is one I've been fielding a lot over the last day and bit.

CNBC.com approached me after doing research on who they considered influential bloggers on twitter (and some other platforms too, I think). So it's really interesting that there are 3 well-established wine personalities on the list, and then 2 bloggers and 2 guys in the cutting edge of wine tech. And it's even more interesting that popularity on social media was used as determinant for who should be included.

I guess the times really are a-changin'…

Love it! And kudos to CNBC.com for their forward-thinking strategy and incorporating some of our favorite wine social media rock stars in the mix this year.

    Alternative title for this post:

"What Do Jancis Robinson and I Have In Common (Besides the Fact that We are Both Carbon-Based Lifeforms Consisting Mostly of Water)?"

I'm not actually a Rock Star – I just play one on the weekends :).

    Respectfully disagree! :)

Wow what a bunch of lame wines from some "serious" wine people. The only one I'd really want with Tgiving is the Champagne. It would at least go with everything. Sherry? Seriously? Well leave it to the Brit! Probably got a wad of cash from the Sherry company to recco that one. Chateauneuf du Pape? With Thanksgiving dinner? how is that going to go well?

The Albarino might work ok I guess but Domestic Pinot Grigio is your best pick? I'll pass. Oh and the whole drink what you want thing is the best you can come up with???

Don't open your 1990 Bordeaux? Why not? It's the Holidays and they are for sharing! I share the best wines I have with my friends and family and I don't care if I only get one glass or they don't understand them! I'm happy just knowing that they are drinking my best stuff even if they don't "get it".

I'll be having some PJ Flower bottle 1998 followed by Dagueneau Silex 05 after that 1995 Canaliccho di Sopra Brunello and some Fontodi Vin Santo 1997 to finish up dessert. Johnnie Walker Blue will take me through to leftovers at 11pm!

    Happy Holidays!

Uhm… having anything that you like, isn't that exactly what you're planning to do…? Confused…
