67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards

In what can only be considered a serious blow to global wine communication standards, my book How to WIN at Wine: A Practical Playbook for Getting Maximum Enjoyment from Every Bottle — Without Spending a Fortune has been longlisted for the Laurent-Perrier Award for Best Global Wine Communicator in Long-Form Writing in the 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards 2026.

Longlisted: Laurent-Perrier Award for Best Global Wine Communicator in Long-Form Writing - 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards 2026

While I am happy for the nod, I must admit that I should have instead pointed them to Unlearning Wine: How to Drink Past Wine’s Most Persistent Myths, which is a better book overall in terms of writing, and probably better suited to the sort of thing that the 67 Global Wine Communicator Awards is looking for in terms of vibe, style, and whatnot.

I don’t stand a prayer of winning this award, but whatever, because I am certainly not above taking the compliment!

The longlist in my category is, indeed, long, and contains many, many competent and impressive wine communicators, many of whom I am pleased to call friends and whose work I would certainly recommend that you check out if you’re remotely interested in wine (if you cannot find a voice in that list that speaks to you, then you’re probably a special case who is beyond help). In an age when most wine writing (hell, most media, period) is lackluster, it’s nice to see that there are folks out there still doggedly fighting the good fight with great wine content.

Cheers!

mazel tov on the nomination.. I guess I should get to work on a new book to gain any traction in our fraction of the media world on a subject as fractious as the vinous delights. Seriously, though, thinking of coming back to Philly later this year, and hopefully being invited back to CO Gov Cup after two year snub this August or whenever. Be great to catch up JBMW
