The Red, White & Blue PersonalWine.com Giveaway!

Welcome to the 4th of July weekend, people!  Time to win some sweet shiz!

To celebrate Independence Day, PersonalWine.com (owned by the same folks who pay me to contribute to the Wine Crush Blog) have teamed up with me to give away a bottle of red, and a bottle of white – each personalized with the winner’s own design, and delivered in a classy sheer blue bag!

Specifically, the red is a 2006 Wattle Creek Syrah Winemaker’s Barrel Selection ($24), and the white is the 2008 Wattle Creek Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Selection ($26).  Both will come in the sweet blue bag pictured on the right, after you design your own super-cool label for your winnings.

Red, white & blue.

Get it?  C’mon, work with me here!

Anyway, winning is easy – here’s how it works:

  • Leave a comment on this post, describing what design you would go for if you had your own wine brand/label.
  • In one week, I will randomly choose a winner from the commenters, who will work with PersonalWine.com to design their prize!

To get us started, I used PersonalWine.com’s handy on-line label designer to upload a preview of one of the new 1WineDude.com review badges that will be coming to the website in the future (more on that in a future post), and create my own kick-ass wine label (literally kick-ass – see below).  Sneak peak after the jump.

Ok – get commentin’!…

Cheers!

I am first! Well, I would make it simple! I would have the label oval shaped,a black back ground and in white there would be vines and grapes circling the name which would say The Dalai Mama vineyards!!!
I hope I win!!! I really love wine and this would just be a big thrill for me!

@meeyeehere – OMG that sounds AWESOME!

MIne is very simple. It's a volume knob from a guitar amp, and instead of the volume topping out at 10, mine would have an extra setting for 11. Hence, 11 Wine Co., as a tribute to Spinal Tap.

      It's ONE louder!

I love simple labels and would love to have my own but have never put thought into what that would be. Vino Luci is Italian for wine light so think it imperative to give that feeling of light/sparkle that the name implies!

    Great, fun idea!

Vino Luci – enchanting name. Just about anything in Italian is enchanting, right?

Love, love, love the Spinal Tap Tribute! Awesome.

Red wine-please. On the label, I'd put my B&W portrait, as done by Mike Bliss, as the vampyre Vlad Draqual and use it to promote my book SUCKS: #1 THE DRAQUAL VAMPYRE CHRONICLES.

an oval label, with a Guatemalan quetzal bird on one side. Vino Deja-Rico y Sabroso (Deja wine, rich & flavorful) Deja is a shortened version of my daughter's full name Dejanera and the Guatemalan quetzal is a gorgeous bird, and also reflects my daughters half Guatemalan heritage.

I'd like to do a label with a chandelier design to match my wedding reception. It would look sweet on the bride and groom's table.

Oh man, these are AWESOME! Thanks, everyone. Keep 'em comin'!

My design would include a floral motif centered around a fleur de lis, designating my cajun heritage.

Great giveaway! I'm getting married soon and it would be so nice to have a special bottle of wine we could open the night we get married or on our honeymoon. I would design a label with a monogram :)

Joe, my name is Roger, but somewhere down the line my friends started calling me Sir Ra instead. It stuck, so that part is history.

Anyway, my buddy makes his own wine as an amateur home winemaker. We were thinking of him making Syrah next year and the name they are going to create for it . While sitting around their fire half-inebriated his wife said, I've got it. We'll call it Sir Ra (yeah that's right, after yours truly).

I want me with arms crossed on the label just like the Brawny towel dude. On top across the label will be "Sir Ra", with the bottom saying ~ One tasty Mo Fo

The white would be named "Ice Breaker" with the saying ~ For Those Who Can't Start a Conversation on Their Own

I want to show them the bottle and say see, that was a bitchin' idea.

*chanting* Sir Ra, Sir Ra, Sir Ra!!!!! That's right, I'm the one who came up with that…woot! Love the Brawny Towel Guy imagery as well. hehehe also @Tasty Mo Fo

I think I'd want an L in a fancy, swirly lettering. Then maybe a comment underneath saying something like "Lose Yourself in Love" for one bottle…and another could be "Lose Yourself in Laughter" , etc.

I’m not very creative when it comes to these types of excercises, and actually pay more attention to the corks that come out of the bottles than the labels (I have several handmade trivets and serving trays that my Dad has made with wine corks). But, my label would have to evoke a cool summer breeze blowing off the lake as I am sitting by the shoreline enjoying a beautiful sunset…. my favorite place to enjoy a good bottle of wine!!

I'd put a a huge globe on the bottle. We live in global times and drink global wines!

Fun contest. I think I'd call mine "UnWINEd" and have an animation of a relaxed girl sipping vino on a hammock. Fun play on words …

  17. @tjfaust Avatar

    Mine would read

    WARNING:
    CONTAINS POISON
    DO NOT DRINK
    (THIS MEANS YOU ZAK)

Maybe this time my roommate would leave my libations alone.

  18. @timbrauhn Avatar

I think that my wine bottle label would be something like a stylized "me" pouring the wine that is actually within the bottle whereto the label itself is affixed. This would promote the meta nature of drinking it in the first place. Note: It would probably help to be halfway into a bottle beforehand so the label would induce a real "Whoa." feeling while I'm pouring it. Whoa.

thanks, all – such great, great ideas!

LOVE the "blind spectator" label idea, btw – but I imagine some issues in getting to use it legally :-).
