Vinted on March 28, 2009 binned in twitter, wine mini-reviews
  • 07 Sebeka Shiraz Pinotage “Cape Blend” (Western Cape, SA): Jammy red fruit w/ just enough game-meat funk to keep things from getting boring. #
  • 07 Sebeka Chardonnay (Western Cape, SA): Uncomplicated mix of melons & pear. A great option for mid-day party fare for the price point. #
  • 05 Recanati Reserve Petite Sirah / Zinfandel (Galilee, Israel): Dark blackberry jam, spice & pepper. New world style, old (old) world place. #
  • 06 Mondavi Private Selection Zinfandel (CA): Not bad, but sort of like the way a Pinto was “not bad.” #
  • 07 Lorentz Gewurztraminer (Alsace): Good lychee aroma & very good balance. Can someone take my car keys please… #

  • 07 Willakenzie Estate Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley): Tough vintage & it shows. Classic OR is there, but is subdued by oak. Needs time. #
  • 06 Gainey Vineyards Pinot Noir (Santa Rita Hills): Like a smoked wood basket full of just about every red berry in the brier patch. #
  • 06 Sonoma Coast Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir: Elegant & complex. Smoke, dark cherry, earth, etc. Worth the $ & already drinking beautifully. #
  • 07 Martin Codax Albarino (Rias Baixas): With all that awesome dried banana, you’ll think you’re drinking Trader Joe’s tropical trail mix. #
  • 05 Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cab Sauv (Puente Alto): Smoke, prune, fig & nice silky finish. Not sure it’s one for the cellar tho. #

  • 07 Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc (Malborough, NZ): Grapefruit & lemongrass on the nose, but it’s tropical passion fruit on the tongue. VG stuff #
  • 05 Rued Cabernet Sauvignon (Dry Creek Valley): Like a girl wearing sexy lingerie, only it’s She-Hulk & she’s trying to smash your face in. #
  • 06 Veranda San Alfonso Cabernet-Carmenere (Maipo Valley): Like alcoholic jelly doughnut filling, only 100 X more complex & w/ pine sprinkles #
  • 05 Chaddsford Winery Due Rossi (PA): Barbera-Sangiovese over-achiever that’s > the sum of its parts (tea leaf, red berry, vanilla, & smoke). #
  • 05 Chaddsford Winery Cabernet Sauvignon (PA): Dark cherry & smokey oak gives way to a hint of milk chocolate. Elegant, at a reasonable abv! #
  • 07 Miguel Torres Vendemia Tardia Riesling (Curico Valley): Nice floral nose and a loooong lemony finish. Not too sweet – so pair w/ caution. #
  • 07 Inniskillin Riesling Icewine (Niagra): Like a crystallized sugar-coated candied apricot that you wish you could savor all night long. #
