Wine Reviews: Weekly Mini Round-Up For January 4, 20211 min read

Posted on January 4, 2021December 15, 2020 by 1WineDude

in wine mini-reviews

I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), and are presented links to help you find them, so that you can try them out for yourself. Cheers!

  • NV Mionetto Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Cartizze (Veneto): Crisp green apples, freshly baked bread, barrels full of fun. $35 A-
  • NV Pizzolato Paloma Brut Rose Spumante (Italy): Blindingly-gaudy bling packaging aside, this has serious freshness & is a lot more refined on the inside. $17 B+
  • 2016 Cecchi ‘Valore di Famiglia’ (Chianti Classico Gran Selezione): Earthy, smokey, no-nonsense-taking take on a classic formula. $NA A-
  • 2015 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon (Puente Alto): Black fruits, green peppers, purple-stained tongue from drinking so mch of it. $24 B+
  • 2016 Argyle Brut (Willamette Valley): Elegant and on point, and getting to its apple-tinged points with nary a delay. $26 B+
  • 2018 Troon Vineyard Syrah Whole Cluster Fermented (Applegate Valley): Dark, meaty, savory delight to be mightily savored. $45 A-
  • 2017 Goosecross Cellars Zinfandel (Napa Valley): Bring your penchant for powerful, peppery spiciness – or stay home! $42 A-
  • 2016 Canard Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Smoother than a sled ride on a fresh pack of newly fallen powder. $60 A-
  • 2018 Decoy Merlot (Sonoma County): Well, ain’t that just a whole mess of plummy fun! $21 B+
  • 2018 Tongue Dancer ‘The Sly One’ Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast): Sometimes, the Coast sends us big, powerful, expertly-crafted waves. $59 A-
