Wine Reviews: Weekly Mini Round-Up for February 22, 20211 min read

in wine mini-reviews

I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), and are presented links to help you find them, so that you can try them out for yourself. Cheers!

  • 2019 Marchesi Frescobaldi Tenuta Ammiraglia ‘Alie’ (Toscana Rosato): Long on everything, including the watermelon & cherry candy flavors, and that floral finish! $24 B+
  • 2016 Lieb Family Cellars Estate Cabernet Franc (North Fork of Long Island): Earthy, spicy (very!), herbal, smoky, juicy, light on its feet, and definitely doing a good Loire impersonation. $35 B+
  • 2018 Owen Roe ‘Ex Umbris’ Syrah (Yakima Valley): Plush, spicy, and ready to paaaaaaarrrrrtyyyyy. $25 B+
  • 2019 Flat Top Hills Cellars Rose (California): How about a little cherry jam for that toast? $14 B
  • 2019 Diora ‘La Belle Fete’ Rose of Pinot Noir (Monterey): Lifted, balanced, delicious… and so the party is, indeed, pretty. $20 B+
  • 2018 Etude Rose (Santa Barbara County): Floral, structured, vibrant, structured… is it Spring yet?!? $22 B+
  • 2019 Raeburn Rose (Russian River Valley): Generous and supple are the operative words; bring your love of cherries. $20 B+
  • 2018 OG de Negoce Cabernet Sauvignon N. 25 (Spring Mountain District): Punching so far above its weight class and price stature that it must have Inspector Gadget arms. $18 A-
  • 2018 OG de Negoce Cabernet Sauvignon N. 30 (Atlas Peak): Not exactly Atlas Peak at its peak, but lovers of dark fruit will find a lot to love. $16 B+
  • 2018 OG de Negoce Cabernet Sauvignon N. 57 (St. Helena): Just like good ol’ California itself, this one is almost obnoxious in its generosity of awesomeness. Talk about bang for the buck! $18 A-
