Wine Reviews: Weekly Mini Round-Up For December 21, 20201 min read

in wine mini-reviews

I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), and are presented links to help you find them, so that you can try them out for yourself. Cheers!

  • NV Dopff & Irion Cremant d’Alsace Rose Brut (Alsace): Basically, Wild Strawberries ‘R Us! $21 B+
  • NV Cockburn’s Special Reserve Port (Porto): One very figgy, dry-fruited bargain. $20 B+
  • NV Mionetto Prosecco Valdobbiadene Superiore (Veneto): Elegantly attired, but maintaining a fruity edginess. $20 B+
  • 2018 Merry Edwards Warrens’ Hill Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley): Here we go ’round the mulberry bush, except we stay here, because it’s awesome. $63 A-
  • 2018 Merry Edwards Bucher Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley): These fruits are bi, they’re also blue, the spices are elegant, and rhyming is hard. $63 A-
  • 2018 Merry Edwards Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley): Both brightly buoyant and luxuriously decadent. $48 A-
  • 2019 Sosie Wines Rossi Ranch White Blend (Sonoma Valley): Hefty, heady, and hearkening its French Rhone spiritual heritage. $35 A-
  • 2018 Belden Barns Estate Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain): Brambly but delightful, energetic but substantive, rugged but happy. $38 A-
  • 2017 Neely Spring Ridge Vineyard Amphitheater Block Chardonnay (Santa Cruz Mountains): Talk about struttin’ yer stuff… this one just cannot hep itself. $55 A-
  • 2018 Trestle Thirty One Riesling (Finger Lakes): Clear and true, cleverly crafted, and showcasing limes galore. $29 A-
