  • 06 Prime 'District 4' Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Big & about as classic & concentrated black cherry as you can get. Bravo! #
  • 08 C. Donatiello 'Marie Pavie' Rose (Russian River Valley): Ultra low-production, slightly oakey but all strawberry, all dry, & all good. #
  • 07 Eagles Nest Winery Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon "Starboard" (Ramona Valley): Dessert wine. Like a bing cherry liquor w/ more bite. #
  • 06 Faust Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Will stand up to most chocolate and laugh in its face. Blackberry with a hint of cocoa powder. #
  • 06 Quintessa (Rutherford): Bring your shades or this will blind you with its awesomeness. Bring a wallet full of cash or you won't get any. #
  • 07 Ch. Ste Michelle Eroica Riesling (WA): A little WA, a little Alsace, a little Mosel, a little tasty, a little flabby. #
  • 06 L'Ecole No 41 Merlot (Columbia Valley): Kind of like the story after a potentially hot date; a bit spicy, a bit peppery, and even juicy. #
  • 05 Snows Lake TWO (Lake County): Red, spicy, beautiful and BIG. Needs a min. of 5 yrs. or it will probably kung fu your tongue. #
  • 06 Magnificent Wine Co. Syrah (Columbia Valley): The spice is niiiice. But attempting this wine without food is a very big no-no. #

  • 08 Penns Woods Traminette (PA): Aromatic, creamy, & surprisingly compex. If they set out to make a simple wine, they failed spectacularly. #
  • 05 Penns Woods Merlot Reserve (PA): Robust & full of dark fruits. Flirting dangerously close to over-extraction, but thoroughly enjoyable. #
  • 07 Penns Woods Chardonnay Reserve (PA): Vanilla, tropical fruit, VG acidity. Might be the best E. Coast Chard. I've EVER tasted. Period. #
  • 07 Christian Moreau Chablis: Racy & tasty. More proof that Chablis is the de facto home of unadorned Chardonnay – purely perfect & a bargain #
  • 08 Pascal Jolivet "Attitude" Sauvignon Blanc (Loire): VG, tart w/ sliced apple & grapefruit dominating. But someone threw some grass in too. #
  • 07 Olivier Leflaive "Les Setilles" Bourgogne Blanc: Big for Burg, but not if you're used to blowsy CA over-oaked monsters. Great w/ scallops #
  • 08 Potel-Aviron Beaujolais Villages: Like a plate of candied berries w/ hibiscus garnish. Easy drinking, easy on the wallet, easy to love. #
  • 08 P45 Rose (Cotes du Rhone): Kind of like eating under-ripe red berries off the vine; simple, fruity, a little dirty, & a guilty pleasure. #
  • 08 Toquade Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley): Christine Barbe's triumph of ingenuity over adversity. Vibrant, complex, & delicious. Drink it now #
  • 01 Jarvis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (Napa): Black fruit w/ a touch of heavy graphite pencil. Proving that good Napa Cab can age gracefully. #

  • 07 Paumanok Late Harvest Riesling (LI): Sweet lemon blast to yo face! Great acid balance suggests a longer life ahead. If you can wait. #
  • 08 St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley): Has more grass than a newly sodded lawn. And despite being a NV SB, it doesn't at all suck! #
  • 06 St. Supery Virtu (Napa Valley): White Bord'x style blend with substance. Will easily stand up to pork & chicken. Drink it a little warm. #
  • 04 St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Blackberry compote & baking chocolate – it's a boozy pie-baking par-tay in your mouth!! #
  • 08 St. Supery Moscato (CA): Pleasant, grapey & peachy, but lacks focus. A wine in search of itself (I vote for aperitif vs. dessert). #
  • 07 Tyler Zotovich Family Chardonnay (Santa Rita Hills): Fruity, big, buttery, BUT… hey, someone put some acid in here, too! #
  • 07 le Jaja de Jau Syrah (Vin de Pays d'Oc): Quaffable. Affordable. One Dimensional. Forgettable. #

  • 07 The Crusher Wilson Vineyard Viognier (Clarksburg): Notes of honey & flowers help to offset the flab & make it a decent value for the $. #
  • 06 Whitehaven Pinot Noir (Marlborough, NZ): Easy-drinking w/ intense red berry, smooth tannin & minerals. Exactly what a kiwi red should be. #
  • 06 Michael David Gluttony Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi, CA): This wine is Godzilla. You are Japan!!! Prepare for total destruction! #
  • 07 Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling (Columbia Valley): Long on the citrus & apricot. Awkward mid-palate, but don’t moan too much at this price. #
  • 07 La Tancia Chianti: Over-delivers a bit for the price. A little astringent, but the acidity & sour cherry will play very well with pizza. #
  • 06 Napa Cellars Stagecoach Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Tasty & not overblown, but so much green pepper you’ll think you’re in Chile. #
  • 07 Dievole ‘Pinocchio’ Nero d’Avola (Sicily): Bright red fruit & herbs, easy drinking & tasty. Maybe a touch too much ML. For now not later. #
