Truth be told, I could have picked two or three times those five wines this year. Almost every rose I tried was worthy. Two Italian wines, Tormaresca Neprica from Puglia and Ajello Bianca from Sicily, were fabulous, but are difficult to find – and one of the rules is that if wines aren’t available, they can’t get in the pass 4 sure Hall. The same is true for the various Tortoise Creek wines, which disappeared from store shelves this year.

not sure how i missed this list, but could have something to do with our boy being born the day before you posted it - guess i was a bit distracted at the time.
once again, great list. as i went through my own list for 2009, my premise was very similar - i'm not in a position to review every wine out there, but i taste more than the average wine drinker and, from that pool, i pull together a list of wines that made an impact on me. plain and simple.
some of the wines on your list i've had before (matthiasson, cornerstone, cigare volante - all of which are fantastic wines and matthiasson gets my vote for best white of the year), but most i have not. so, thanks for the recommendations - psyched to try some of these.
